Foundation stone for ‘Shantikund’ laid by the Governor



Gangtok, January 25: The foundation stone of ‘Shantikund’ at Development Area was laid today by the Governor of Sikkim, Balmiki Prasad.
The Governor in his address expressed his gratefulness to lay the foundation of the Shantikund on the eve of the Republic Day. “We can call it the lighthouse of peace”, said the Governor, and added that the construction of building alone does not bring peace; it is the good thought that brings peace. He also mentioned the need for the Sikkimese citizens to protect and take good care of it.
Architect for the project, Kiran Rasaily gave a brief technical report. It is a five floored structure designed to be earthquake resistance. On the available land of 6,000 sq ft for the building, the structure will cover 4,000 sq ft and the rest will be for the garden and lawn. The building will also have accommodation facilities and on the third floor there will be a museum for ‘Bharat Jyotir Lingam’ which is the first of its kind in the whole Northeast.
With more than 8500 centers spread over the world devoted to cultural, ethical, moral and spiritual awakening and national integration, the development of the divinity in mankind is the foremost goal and main objective of the Brahmakumaris.
